DEMEL CAFE – Vienna

What is famous in Vienna ?

Vienna is the city famous with its Opera, Schnitzels and Cakes ! As you can easily guess, I am strictly interested in “Cakes”& “Schnitzels”. My last blog entry was about “Schnitzel”. So it’s time to share my impressions about Cakes in Vienna.

Everybody can think that Cakes are simple dessert. Let’s suppose that it is a really simple dessert, nevertheless I love eating cake ! 

Let’s turn back to our main subject. “Cakes and Vienna”. There are a large amount of patisserie in Vienna but one of them has a big fame ! I am talking about “Demel Cafe”.

Before my trip to Wien started, I had heard that Demel Cafe is one of the primary cafe that people can find special cakes in Vienna . So I added one more thing to “my to-do list” and decided to visit there. Foundation year of “Demel Cafe” is 1786. During 19th century they were preparing cakes and some special desserts for the King and Queen of Austria ! This old and significant cafe is still preserving its particular  position in Vienna’s Cuisine. 

“Demel Cafe” has very central location in Vienna, so it is not  difficult to find it. All the cafes and restaurants are located near to Hofburg Palace and Cathedral that are main sights of Vienna. 

On their menu, you can find various types of cakes and desserts. In addition if you pass the entrance, you will see the second room at back and in that room you can see the kitchen. So you will be able to see how the desserts are prepared ! It is very interesting !!!

I recommend that if you are going to visit Vienna, you have to come “Demel Cafe” and taste the delicious cakes !!
