Review: Berlin Maximilians
For me, the experience in Berlin
Maximilians, in a word, was amazing. Even if I visited Berlin a long time ago,
still I remember clearly the restaurant and its beautiful atmosphere.
Especially the dish which we tried in Maximilians was one of the best dishes
that I’ve eaten in my entire life. I can visit Berlin again just because of
this amazing dish and restaurant. The name of the dish is “Toast Aloisius”.
Toast Aloisius consists of 2
slices of meat loaf baked over with Camambert and sweet Munich mustard. As a
condiment, they use mustard which perfectly flavors the dish. Delicious fatty
meat is served with a typical French cheese, Camambert. The most interesting
point of the dish is the sauces which are served with the meat. A sweet marmalade
(probably cherry marmalade) is served with the meat. The second sauce is still
a mystery for me. Because I’m not sure what was it. Nevertheless I think that
it was a sauce made by Wasabi, but it was not hot as much as Wasabi. It’s kind
of a sauce that is weakening by different ingredients. Lastly, there were
orange slices on the plate.
On the same plate, you can
taste the fundamental components of different cuisines such as Japon (Wasabi)
and French (Camambert cheese). In addition, eating the meat with some marmalades
or jams is a habit of North Europeans and it’s a part of their cuisine. Integrating
these tastes on the same dish should be a master work. Therefore, the chef
deserves a big compliment.
The restaurant is located in
a modern building. It offers you the typical German pub & restaurant
concept as well. It’s kind of a touristic place but locals also go there. They
offer tasty dishes, typical German beers in a nice ambiance.
Among the different types of
beers, we ordered Paulaner. It was very delicious as well.
You should visit this beautiful city, Berlin and
if you visit Berlin, don’t miss Maximilians.
Berlin is a very modern city. Modern buildings, modern streets.
See you on the next entry.
