Review: Sal de Riso - Ricotta e pere
On this entry, I
am going to introduce you a particular Italian cake: “Ricotta e pere”. This dessert consists of basically ricotta cheese and pear. It has a great fame
not only in Italy but also all around the world. After this taste had become
popular, other pastry shops also started serving “Ricotta e pere”. Now, even in some ice cream parlours, it’s so also
possible to find an ice cream type with this taste. In my opinion, it’s so delicious and it’s not a kind of a heavy
dessert. It’s a very good combination of the freshness which is coming from Ricotta and the sweetness which comes from pear and sugar.
Although prices are a little bit high, it worth!
I’ve first
tasted this cake in different pastry shop in Salerno and I didn’t like it so
much at first. However, after tasting the cake in the original place, in Sal de
Riso, I loved Ricotta e Pere. I think
that there is a big difference between the Ricotta
e pere of Sal de Riso and the others.
The pastry shop, Sal de Riso, is located in Minori. Minori is a town
and comune in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western
Italy, situated on the Amalfi Coast. Therefore someone who wants to taste the
special taste, also will have a chance to see Amalfi Coast and its beauty.
The idea of this
cake and intergrating a cheese with a fruit was discovered by Salvotore de
Riso. Minori, Salavatore De Riso’s birth place, is hosting now also his pastry
shop. In the year 2000 he opened the Pasticceria De Riso on the seafront of
Minori and within a few years his pasticceria became one of the best known and
most important in Italy.
Of course, in the pastry shop, Ricotta e Pere is not only dessert that you can taste. There are lots of different typical pastries in the pasticceria. Sal de Riso offers tasty ice creams, fresh sorbets, liqueurs and jams. As I’ve observed in his pastry shop, Salvotere de Riso likes innovative approaches and it seems that he is a creative person.
In addition,
inside of the pastry shop there is a small typical Italian bar in which you
have a coffee.
I’ll also share
with you some outstanding dessert types of the pastry shop.
All these delicious desserts are created by Salavatore De Riso. As you can see, he has special ways to serve the desserts.
They offer you some good examples of Italian dessert types. They seem tasty, aren't they?
Typical sweet taste of Naples cuisine, Baba. A rum baba or
baba au rhum is a small yeast cake saturated in hard liquor, usually rum, and
sometimes filled with whipped cream or pastry cream.
It's possible to find also typical Sicilian desserts in pastry shop. It's "Cassata Siciliana". Cassata or
Cassata siciliana is a traditional sweet from the area of Palermo, Sicily,
Italy. Cassata may also refer to a Neapolitan ice cream containing candied or
dried fruit and nuts.
Salavatore De
Riso says that: My creations come to life
in the peaceful hills of Tramonti, bathed in the Mediterranean sun of the
Amalfi Coast. They pay homage to the exceptional produce of my land and the
South of Italy: the golden amalfi lemons, sweet apples, Giffoni walnuts,
ricotta cheese from Tramonti, citrus fruits from Campania, tomatoes from San
Marzano.
