Campo de' Fiori – Open Market
Today I would like to give some informations about the Campo de' Fiori, in Rome. It's location is quite close to the Navona Square. So if you visit Rome, besides The Colosseum, The Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Vatican, now you have one more place to visit. Although some tourists prefer not to visit there, even some of them don't know anything about this place, I strongly recommend you to visiting this interesting place. It can be a good alternative for you. However, the question is that: why I choose this subject as an entry for my food blog. The answer is simple: there is a wonderful open-market on the square in Campo de' Fiori. I would like to share some pictures from this place.
This funny picture was taken from Campo de' Fiori just before the Halloween. As you know, before the Halloween, it's a tradition to prepare the pumpkins and give a shape them like human faces.
Every year, this place is welcoming new tourists from all over the world. Campo de' Fiori is a rectangular square near Piazza Navona in Rome ! The variety is extremly high and suprising. I like very much this kind of traditional open markets a lot.
When we were visiting the open market, we also visited Piazza Novana. Piazza Novana is one of the places that I like very much. On this square, there are two fontains which are so famous. Also street musicians can be seen there.
Fresh fruits and vegetables on the stalls. If the weather is nice, you can feel the beautiful atmosphere there and buy the most fresh fruits and vegetables. This is the Italy !!!
The prices are unfortunately high however, in the capital city of Italy, Rome, it's very diffucult to find something cheap. Even you can not buy anything, it's very nice to feel this atmosphere. Some sellers also are offering some foods for tasting them.
Pomodoro which means tomato. In Italian cuisine, dry tomatoes are commonly used as ingredients. As you can see, there are different types of dry tomatoes.
Italian pasta can be found as well. It can be a good choice for the tourists to buy typical pastas. Italian Pasta with diffrent colors, shapes and ingredients.
Campo de' Fiori, translated literally from Italian, means "field of flowers". The name was first given during the Middle Ages when the area was actually a meadow.
If you travel to Rome, for sure you should visit Piazza Novana. So please do not forget to see also Campo de’ Fiori because it just takes 15 minutes by walk from Piazza Novana to Compo de Fiori.
