Dutch Cuisine III

After the first and the second article about Dutch cuisine, now it’s time to post the third entry about food culture in Netherlands. As I’ve said before, Netherlands is not a country that has a specific cuisine, its cuisine consists of different tastes, different food cultures. Nevertheless, they have some typical and traditional foods such as Dutch cheese.

In Amsterdam, we came across an open market fortunately. In this open-market, cheese vendors were selling cheeses, some people were offering hot wines. Words are not enough to explain the atmosphere because it was really amazing to see numerous kinds of cheeses all together.
The prices are not very high and as a tourist you don’t encounter problems because, everyone can speak English and people are very helpful and friendly.
In order to make you feel the atmosphere, I would like to share this picture. It was taken from the enterance of the open-market. At this time, we were also very lucky, because it was just before the Christmas. For that reason, like all other places, the open-market was very lively, and charming.
In the open-market also some people were selling delicious “Hot Dogs”. To be honest, I didn’t taste any Hot Dog there, because I was full due to the fact that I ate on this day a lot of “French fries”. However, I took some pictures in order to share with you :)

Not only in Eindovhen but also in Amsterdam, I realized that commonly street vendors sell one type of dessert. It seems really simple but I think that they are delicious. I tasted them in Eindhoven and they are so tasty. The dough consists of flour, water, and yeast. They fry the dough then add some suger on it. Also it was a good choice because it costs just 1,50 euro.
This picture was taken in Eindhoven. They are selling delicious desserts from this vehicle. It is one of the cheap way to eat something in Netherlands.

As you can see, there are different types of these desserts. Dutch people, especially children, like them very much.

I would like to share one more thing which is quite interesting for me. In Netherlands, it was the first time that I tasted “Coca Cola” with cherry. Unfortunately, In Italy Coca Cola prefers not to sell this type. I don’t know why but you can find just Coca Cola, Coca Cola Zero/Light and without caffein type in Italy.
Always the same quality with different taste. Feels you like eating cherry really :) After tasting Pepsi Twist, I liked it also very very much !! To sum up, it was very interesting because it makes you feel like you are really eating cherries. For that reason, if Coca Cola changes its decision for the market of Italy, I promise that I will be the first one who goes to the supermarket and buy this type :)
