Roscioli

Today I would like to share my impressions about one of the most famous delicatessens in Rome. The name of the place is Roscioli. Actually, before my trip to Rome, I had not plan to visit this place however I came across luckily while I was walking on the narrow streets of Rome. Rome is a city that provides you to see always some original places in every corner. But how I had an idea about this place before? The answer is very simple. Thanks to TV programs of Vedat Milor, who is one of the most famous gourmets in Turkey, I got informed about this place. Vedat Milor is a regular food and wine reviewer/columnist for the prestigious Turkish newspaper and TV channel. You can reach more information about him by clicking here

If we turn back to our main subject, the place Roscioli, it is really an amazing “delicatessens”. For me, it was a great experience to see lots of different types of vines, cheeses in the same place. In addition, the atmosphere of the delicatessens is incredible. It’s really typical Italian “Salumeria” however we can say that thanks to high variety, this place is much more sophisticated. Even it is not a big place sufficiently; this cute ambiance feels you in your own kitchen.

So instead of visiting different places in order to find delicious foods, you can reach numerous types of vines, cheeses, hams, olive oils in the same place. The prices are quite high, however it deserves.
In this place, they’ve one bakery and restaurant as well. The bakery is very old.  For three generations the Roscioli family has kept on preparing pizzas for according to the old recipes of the traditional Roman cuisine.
They are organizing private wine and food tasting accompanied by a professional “sommelier”. They provide you to make a sensorial journey around Italy.
450 different kinds of cheeses, more than 100 different kinds of cured meats, a wine list of 2200 labels, 20 different types of homemade breads and a professional team of sommeliers and chefs. A family, in a perfect Italian tradition, that has been working together since 1969. This is Salumeria Roscioli.
